Many divers from over the world love to come to Andaman Sea for diving. There are many certified diving school, diving shops and diving center available on the island, to serve the diving starter too. A short trip to the snorkeling spot is very recommended. which depending on your budgets.
Recommendations from fellow travelers
Go diving when you are on Lanta! It's a good base from where you can visit dive-sites that are said to be among the best of the world. The diving school where I did all my diving with was Lanta Diver. It's a Swedish company from origin with many instructors from all over the world. Man, it's well organised there! They arrange diving trips to Ko Ha, Ko Bida and Hin Dueng. You leave at 7 or 8 o'clock, depending on your destination. Breakfast and fantastic Thai lunch is served on the boat and lots of fruit on the way back.
The diving around Ko Lanta was one of the most impressive I've seen so far (which is quite a lot... ;-)). Especially, the areas of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang as well as the Ko Ha islands were beautful. In season, you'll see Mantas, sharks, tunas, turtles, big schools of fish and, if you're very lucky, a whale shark...
You can bring your own gear or rent it at one of the diving schools situated on Ko Lanta. Most of them are in Ban Saladan.
